If you follow our blog you have probably seen the last video we made about a day in Aveiro, Portugal.
This beautiful place is famous for the architecture which is different from traditional places in the country. It stands out with the colors of the buildings and canals with many gondolas. The city is about 50mins drive south from O'Porto.
Costa Nova in the little fisherman's village on the seaside of Aveiro District. The character and the charm of this place, combined with absolutely relaxed atmosphere make this a great stop to relax and enjoy a little time away. Many original buildings which give great opportunities for taking photos :)
You can definitely guess that the fisherman's village should be a perfect spot for lunch. It is the truth! The place has a famous local fish market, where you can wander around and see what can be caught in the surrounding seas. We stopped for lunch in Marisqueira restaurant and were amazed by the quality of the shellfish platter which we had. We usually try not to come to same restaurants, but this meal would bring us back if we are in Aveiro...
The city of Aveiro is a bit bigger than Costa Nova, but both places are worth a visit. They reminded us our holiday in Venice and Burano island. The comparison to Venice comes from multiple canals with colorful boats which are called barcos moliceiros. When we visited Aveiro we only had few hours, but that was enough to have icecreams, sit down for an espresso and take few nice photographs :)
