We have recently visited Switzerland for few days and we turned it into a short road trip. Wherever we go for a holiday we always want to see as much as we can. For that reason, we always end up driving/ moving a lot to make us many memories as possible. We 've spent 4 days in Switzerland this time and drove about 1000km :) One of the interesting things is that this country has 3 official languages - French, German and Italian. By moving around in the country you notice a sudden change in language, all the road signs, shops are different.
Bern -The Captial
The old city is very atmospheric and has beautiful medieval architecture. It is great for walking around and appreciating views. Even though it was the end of January, Bern has still Christmas decorations, what makes a perfect match with white mountains surrounding the city!
Everyone knows that Switzerland is very famous for cheese and chocolate. There are many shops which specialize in producing the most tempting chocolates you ever saw! Apart from choosing sweets from hundreds of flavors, you can watch the process of producing these goods. On the photo below you can see a guy writing sentences with chocolate on the chocolate hearts.
Is a medieval town on top of the hill and it is very famous from the cheese produced here. The place is not very touristic, what lets you relax and walk around looking at pretty buildings and mountains.
H.R. GIGER BAR
Created by Swiss artist H. R. Giger. This place is a work of art, an original and completely unique experience. The ceiling, walls, floors, fittings, tables, and chairs are all modeled by the artist in the style of his acclaimed ‘Alien’ biomechanical environment and character designs. Giger Bar is the ultimate in immersive art. The experience is incredible, inviting and inspiring. It is so different that makes you want to visit that place even more!
Famous Swiss resort built on a narrow stretch of valley, between the emerald-colored waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brien. Its surrounding mountains, with dense forests, alpine meadows, and glaciers, has numerous hiking and skiing trails.
Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald
These 2 small cities you can only reach from Interlake. You are driving into Swiss Alps where the road finishes. We have come to the conclusion that Grindelwald is more of a ski resort and Lauterbrunnen a small Swiss village where you can go for amazing walk. the village is built in the valley with 300m high cliffs on both sides.
We loved our short trip to Switzerland and we are happy of visiting that many places in the short period of time. It was our small weekend escape, which tuned out great!
